Please briefly review following criteria before spending your time search online: Criteria Key benefits of this package in comparison with other sellers At least three strobes (you have to have 3 strobes for most applications) Yes, three 180WS strobes included in this package. Note: other sellers offer two 150WS strobes and one small 40WS slave light. At least >500WS total power in the package (do not get a package less than 500WS, otherwise you will regret) Yes, total 540WS in this package. Note: Other sellers’ package is about 350WS total. IS09001/2000, CE Well-known brand Quality Yinyan original product (IS09001/2000, CE certified). Other sellers use self-made-up goofy “brand name”, unknown manufactures. Note: some sellers use same model number of our strobes, but you have to check the logo on the strobe to verify. Warranty We offer full 12-month warranty for all the items directly from us, not from factory. Free trial We offer 10 days free trial. Price Under $300 for total 540WS three strobes completed package, this is best buy. No other sellers can offer this, period! Have you been looking for a powerful studio lighting/strobe package at affordable price? I am offering an opportunity to fulfill that dream for your studio: You can take studio-quality photographs with almost any camera and almost anywhere; for weddings, fashion shows, advertising products, photo-art, industrial, scientific & technical photography, photographic reproduction, etc. You can afford a brand new set of powerful (540-Watt-Second total) 3-light/strobe system! YINYAN Flash Corp LTD. is one of the best-known and largest original strobe/flash lighting manufacturers who OEMs many brand names of strobes around the world. YinYan is a very high-quality brand that has been certified by ISO-9002, CE and other standards. (We are an authorized distributor for Beijing YinYan, BY-models products. Beware of some similar lighting kits out there using cheap/goofy self-made brand name strobes (click here to see) ) Conversations between John and his wife Susan:   The complete package of this sale (retail $1250): showing all three strobes, three stands for the strobes, one softbox, two umbrellas, a set of 4 leaf Barndoors, 4 sets of color gels, a honeycomb, a large 32" foldable double-side reflector dis (silver and gold), and two carry bags, and all power cords and bulbs. The a 16-ft long PC/hotshoe sync cords, two PC cord and three backdrops are also included this package (all modeling light bulbs and flash tubes are included). See pictures below. Click for larger image This special package includes the following items (yes for under $300 you get all the items listed below, all items carry a 12 months warranty directly from us. This is not a goofy “manufacture warranty”. Beware of other ebay sellers offering “manufacture warranty” that is oversea!):   Three (3) Professional Studio Strobes: BY-180B (at 180 Watt-Second each), each with their own 75-watt modeling light. The back panel of the BY-180B: Test button, power switch, continuous-adjusting knob (stepless) to control the outputs of flashing, remote sensor, ready light, sync socket, fuse, and power socket. Again the BY-180B is HQ top strobe, unlike others you see on ebay (click here to see).   The three BY-180B strobes are high-quality products. Searching online you will find costs for similar strobes would be well over $200 each. You can search for similar products using Google or Yahoo, by searching for "180 or 200 WS strobe". There are other, more expensive brands, but you will not find anything of this quality at this price, anywhere on the internet. Click for larger image The intensity of flashing tube can be adjusted continuously (stepeless control). Each of the two main strobes also contains a 75-watt modeling light, to help guide your strobe placement by visualizing the shadows that will fall on your subject when the strobe actually fires. This is invaluable for perfect portrait studio photography! Beware: other sellers include cheap ($7.00 one) strobe like (no kidding!), click to see. The three180 WS strobes we offer in this package usually retailed over $1250. You can compare quality of these strobes with 200WS strobes found in camera stores and B&H. (Note: these are flashes/strobes, NOT continuous lights. The kit's total strobe output can reach 540-Watt-Second (or Joules) in energy for each flash (at full power). Because of the way a strobe bursts a huge amount of energy in a very short period of time, the strobe will not generate any lasting heat, unlike continuous lighting, which tends to generate a lot of heat. Also, the strobe produces daylight-type color temperatures (5600K), so you do not need special films or filters. One (1) 20" X 28" Softboxes (Yes, its 20" X 28" size with silver reflect inside) with quality metal rod framework. This is beautiful looking as well as extremely functional, with a matte black outer surface and a highly reflective diffusion interior and detachable soft white diffusers for the faces. Click for larger image   This is a shot of the softboxe included. They assemble easily, and can be used many ways to diffuse and direct the light from the main strobes. Two (2) 34" Umbrellas: one (1) is silver umbrella reflector, and one (1) is translucent umbrella diffuser, that works like a softbox (the flashing from strobe directly shots through).   The large silver interior surface reflects/bounces your light source onto the subject creating a wrapping effect and minimize harsh shadow. Generally used for portrait to give contrast to the main light. Click to see.   The large white translucent surface diffuses your light source onto the subject creating a softening effect and fill out dark shadow. Generally used for portrait to give softening fill effect. Click to see.     One (1) 16-ft hotshoe/PC sync cord that works with any camera has a standard hotshoe, such as your common 35 mm SLR or digital SLR (DSLR) cameras, like Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc (note: other sellers only offer standard PC sync cords. So if you need a hotshoe/PC adapter -- cost you about extra $25 for each adapter. Other sellers will not include this one. You do need one if your camera has a hotshoe). This allows you to directly connect your camera to one of the strobe units via a sync cord, which will trigger the strobe each time you press the shutter release on your camera. Since all strobes have remote sensor building, so any one of the strobe’s flashing will trigger other strobes to flash. All you need is to connect your camera to a closet strobe by this cord. This cord is 16-ft long that is good for most applications. Click for larger image Note: we usually included a Wireless Radio Transmitter/Radio Receiver. Since you can find them at ebay pretty cheap (under $10 I think), we no longer include it in this package (click to see). Some sellers do include this single-channel cheap trigger and then mark-up the price of the package, though. Those triggers work with our kit: Click for larger image. Indeed, you do not need one since our PC/Hotshoe sync cords are long enough and more reliable though. In return, we give you 3 larger (more power) high quality BY-180B strobes with this long sync cord. Basically, we replaced the small strobe (click to see) with a large BY-180B. This is a better trade. Other sellers keep this smaller strobe (about 45 WS). Our package total power of flashing will be 540WS that fits to your most applications, while other sellers’ package has only about 300 WS (useless for family or group portraits or large subject photos). You get one hotshoe sync cord. You can use one to connect directly to your camera's hotshoe and into one of the main strobe's sync connections. The camera shown is not included in this sale. Two (2) 20-ft standard PC sync cords that works with your camera without standard hotshoe (note: some cameras, especially old professional cameras, may not have a standard hotshoe. But they often have a standrd PC socket). This allows you to directly connect your camera's PC socket to one of the strobe units via this sync cord, which will trigger the strobe each time you press the shutter release on your camera. Click for larger image You get two standard sync cords, which connect directly to your camera's PC socket and into one of the main strobe's sync connections. The Cameras shown are not included this sale. 32" (80cm) Collapsible (double side) Reflector (Silver and gold) disc Silver increases the specula highlights fill and yields a high-contrast image fill. It's perfect for product shots, wedding portraits, and B&W photography. Gold produces a natural, golden, and warm color fill that is great for jewelry products, and indoor/studio portraits, etc. Click for larger image Set of 4 leaf Barndoors for BY- 180B controls your spill light Set of 4 color gels to make your different background colors A honeycomb for adding honeycomb shade to get a diffusion effect. Click for larger image Two (2) Carry bags; One for the stands and umbrella, and one strobe carry case for all three strobes, protected in their original boxes for security in transport. These allow you to pack up all your lighting gear into two simple carrying bags to take to a new location as needed. They pack away neatly and can be stored in a car truck or a closet to get them out of the way, and set up is simple, taking no more than 10 minutes from bags to photo-ready. Click for larger image Carry bags allow for easy storage and transportation of your gear. Three (3) Backdrops: One 10' x 20' large fabric backdrop (makes an amazing patterned backdrop even in B/W shooting mode), and two 5'1/2" x 9'3/4"  backdrops (one pure black and one silk white - the quality of these two backdrops are improved -- much thicker than others), which are great for product shots. The photos below are to illustrate their purposes only, only the backdrops are included in this auction and not the items featured in the photographs.   The beautiful 10X20' large colour background print is fantastic for portraits, and even works well for black & white shooting. You will get one as shown in this picture. The white backdrop is great for products or smaller shoots producing a keyed out background. The black backdrop is great for products or smaller shoots producing a dark background effect. Three (3) Bi-Pin Halogen modeling Lamps (75-watts each) come with the BY-180B strobes. (Note: the modeling lamps are continuous lights that do NOT flash. You can turn on the modeling lights to see exactly how the strobe light would fall on the subject and where the shadow will fall before you trigger the strobes to take a picture.) Three (3) 6'2/3" foot Light Stands for three strobes; (Three sections, aluminum, light-weight, portable - folds down to 28" tall). These are quality stands that adequately support the strobe units in this kit. (Yes, you get three stands for the strobes in the package even though I do not have a picture shown three stands alone here). Click for larger image Special Offer - One time only. By buying this package, you also get a collectable high-quality 12” x 18” print of Batoni masterpiece of Allegory of Peace and War, 1776 (Oil on canvas) for Free! Yes, free for you (estimated value of $100 - $500)       Pompeo Batoni (Italian, 1708 – 1787)   Allegory of Peace and War, 1776 (Oil on canvas)   Regarded in his maturity as Rome’s greatest living parinter, perhaps even the most famous in Europe, Batoni gained such stature through numerous grand portraits and prestigious commissions for religious and historical subjects from popes, emperors, and kings. Yet he painted Peace and War without a commission, during a rare interval of peace in Europe. Batoni reportedly charged the highest prices for the paintings allegedly done “for himself”.   A contemporary called this picture on of the most beautiful Batoni ever made, a judgment repeated in the artist’s obituary. Batoni earned such praise by combining elements of Rococo softness and eroticism with those of the newly fashionable neoclassicism.   Both figures in the painting are derived from impeccable classical sources: War is personified as the god Mars, out fitted as a Roman emperor. Peace is also represented as a goddess, bearing an olive branch. Both are based on sculptural precedents: Mars on Roman busts of the Emperor Caracalla (211-217), Peace on a Roman marble of Cupid and Psyche, excavated around 1730 from the ruins of the second-century villa of the Emperor Hadrian.   Despite its immediate-critical success, Peace and War soon disappeared and remained untraced for 150 years. It was last noted in February 1778 when Batoni privately showed Pope Pius VI this painting and a Holy Family as his best available works.   All equipment is Brand New. Strobes/flash are high quality products complied with ISO-9002 and CE standard (12 month full warranty directly from us. This is not a goofy “manufacture warranty”. Beware of other ebay sellers offering “manufacture warranty” that is oversea!) All together, this is a very powerful set of high-end studio strobes, which are particularly useful for portrait photography either at your home or in a studio. The strobes can be a hotshoe/PC sync cord (included) from any camera with a hotshoe (all SLR cameras and DSLR have a hotshoe, and some rangefinder cameras have hotshoe for external flashes as well), or even can be remotely triggered by your camera's own built-in flash. This set is max of your "utility function" in terms of performance and your money. If you have a point-shoot-camera or a digital camera, you still can take a portrait picture with this kit. The flash from your camera can trigger the strobes. You can use this kit to set up for a classic setting of portrait - one strobe for the key light and another for a fill light and third light can be used as side/background light, etc. Now you can shoot portraits or any professional product or art pictures whenever or wherever you like. For this brand new set at this amazing price, this offer could be the Best Deal you can ever find in the market! All strobes use AC 110 volt (North American standard), no need for bulky DC power packs. All strobes have a built-in remote optical/near-infrared sensors, so one flash or triggering will sync all the strobes! What it total retail price for this package? What if I buy each item from eBay to put them together as a package, do I do better in terms of price comparing to your package? You get all the items listed stated in this sale (three strobes with three PC cords and three modeling lamps and power cords; three stands; a softboxe and two umbrellas; set of 4 leaf Barndoors; set of 4 color gels; a honeycomb; 32" large reflector; one carry bag each for the stands/umbrella and strobes respectively; three backdrops, etc.). The retail price for this package is over $1250 if you order similar items from B&H or other online store. If you buy each item from eBay and put them together in a similar package as I offer here, I am sure it will cost you much more. Please note: a.      We offer 180 WS strobes, not 120 or 150 WS strobes (we offer total 540WS power package. Other sellers offer 340WS packages that are much less powerful. In some cases, such as large family portraits or wedding portraits or group photos or auto/furnish show photo, etc (large size of subjects), those 340WS packages are useless) b.      We include three backdrops - one of them is 10' x 20' c.       we include softboxe d.      we include barndoors, color gels, honeycomb, and large reflector e.      We include PC/hotshoe sync trigger cord f.        We sell well-known brand "YinYan" (one of the largest strobe/flash manufactures) products that is certified by ISO-9002 and CE standard (others do not). (click here to see).   2.      What is the trigger method for these strobes, do I need a DC power pack (a separate power supply)? All three strobes have optical remote sensors built-in. So any flash will trigger them. The PC/Hotshoe adaptor and PC sync cords are included in this sale. You can connect one of the strobes to your camera with the PC sync cord on the hotshoe of your camera! No, there is no need of a DC power pack. All strobes are using regular house 110 AC volts. Just plug in and play. 3.      How would a professional photographer use this set? A professional photographer usually uses a medium format camera or an expensive SLR 35mm camera or an expensive digital SLR camera that has a manual operation mode. This kit works for any 35 mm SLR camera and works for almost all the digital SLR (DSLR) cameras (like Nikon, Canon, Pentax, etc). They use a flash meter to measure the intensity from the strobes and then set camera's aperture accordingly. You use the PC sync cord to trigger one of the Pro BY-180B strobe to flash (which in turn will trigger the other strobes to flash since the strobes have an optical sensor built-in). 4.      Can I use the modeling lights as a continuous lighting source for photographing? No. The modeling light is only 75-Watts and is for modeling purposes only. You can use these lights to get an idea of how the shadows will fall on a subject when the strobes actually fire. You can either leave the modeling lights on or off while you take a picture but it is suggested you turn off the modeling lights during long shoots in order to avoid excess heat. 5.      I have a cheap digital camera or a Point-to-shoot camera. Can I use this set? Yes, your camera's built-in flash will trigger the strobes to flash since the strobes have an optical sensor built in. But for serious photography, it is suggested NOT to use Point-to-shoot camera. If you like to use a digital camera for your studio photography, just make sure to get a digital camera (suggest a SLR one) that has a standard hotshoe and has a full manual mode! 6.      I'm trying to start a business. How can I learn to use this kit to be a successful photographer? This set, just like any other good photo equipment, can only help you to be successful. I suggest you to get best book from any bookstore to learn more about the subtleties of photographic art or business (e.g. subjects like "Portrait Photography", "Studio lighting", "Studio photography", etc.). Today a good digital SLR camera can make you life much easy. Just plug in to play and have a fun. I had a customer who started her business with this kit. She has been so happy with this set and so allows me to link her website as a reference, please click here to see all her work with this kit.  An amateur who bought this kit started with his still-life (products) photos and very happy with the results so he emailed me his link to share with you, click here to see his still-life photos are produced with the light set. Two beginning amateur photographers who bought this kit kindly allow me to link their websites to show their work by using this kit, most time they  use only one BY-180B strobe as key light and the reflector to fill (click to see): samples1 and sample2. 7.      What else do I need in order to be a good studio photographer? You will most likely need a flash meter. An analog one will cost about $50 from B&H, and it will work perfectly. You may get one from eBay though. Studio photographers usually need to have a good flash meter. However, with today's newer digital cameras, the need for such meters has diminished, as you can preview your shots after each adjustment and make corrections and try again until the correct exposure is reached. 8.      OK, now I have learned most of studio strobe/flash stuff, but what does 180-WS mean? What is actual difference between strobe/flash and regular, continuous lighting? How is 180-WS strobe compared with a 1000 Watt continuous light? 180-WS means that the strobe output is 180 Watt-Second (otherwise known as 180 Joules) in energy for each flash. For the BY-180B strobe, the flash duration ranges approximately 1/500 - 1/2000 second. For the full power setting, each flash (burst) will output 180 X 2000 = 360,000 WS (or Joule) energy. This flash energy is equivalent to the energy produced by a 1000-Watt continuous light bulb for 360 seconds. Now you know how bright the 180 WS strobe can be during a short period of time. Because the strobe/flash bursts huge energy at very short period of time, the strobe will NOT be heated up, unlike the continuous lighting that will generate a lot of heat. Also, the strobe/flash units produce daylight-type color temperature (5600K), whereas continuous lights tend to produce non-daylight-type color temperature (3600 K - yellow/green like), so you typically need special film/filters. 9.      OK, if I use this kit by setting a distance about 12 feet between the strobes and the subject, what is the estimated value of aperture I need to set on my camera (with shutter set at 1/60 or 1/125)? Can I adjust the output power of strobes? Can I put umbrella on the BY-180B strobe instead of softbox? According to my meter readings for ISO-100 or ISO-160 speed film, the aperture is about f16 – f32. Yes, the strobes have power level control (stepeless) for output. Yes, the strobes have a built-in umbrella holder. This setup is useful for any amateur or professional photographer looking to do studio photography. It is a system that allows you to grow as needed by adding more lights for much larger subjects or groups, and control the power output to create dramatic lighting situations. 10.  Why does one not need higher power strobe, say > 800WS, or even > 1000WS?  The BY-180B strobe is most demanded studio strobe. Because of right output power, 180 ws, this strobe fit to most applications. Today, most photographers shoot for 35 mm or medium format film cameras or digital SLR cameras. The exposure area of films or chip sensors for these cameras is much smaller (< 1.5” by 1.5”, typically). The 6X9 medium format exposure area of film is only 2”X3”. So, the 180 WS BY-180B strobe is powerful enough for most applications under those cameras. Some ones use large format film cameras, like 4X5”, 5X7” or 8X10” cameras. Those large format cameras have many times larger exposure area than that of traditional cameras (35 mm, medium format, and digital cameras). Just give you’re an example to help you understand this, say if you shoot studio portrait with a 35 mm film or a digital camera with this BY-180B strobe at normal setting: shutter fixed at sync 1/125 sec, and aperture 16 for your 50 mm standard lens. Now, say you want to change your camera to a large format camera (8X10”). Then Standard lens of large format camera (equal to the 50 mm lens of 35-mm film or digital SRL cameras) is now about 210 mm instead. To get a same result (image depth), you need to reduce two stops of aperture to 64. Hence you need to increase lighting for about two stops that is about 4 X 180 WS = 720 WS. This is why for regular 35 mm film camera or digital cameras you almost never need a 720 WS power of a strobe, unless you are shooting for extreme conditions, say using zoom lens (200mm) with 64 aperture for low IOS 32 film. For most studio applications, you only work with lens ranged from 35 mm to 135 mm and aperture ranged from 5.6 to 32, and film IOS from 100 to 800. So the 180WS strobe is powerful enough. Let me repeat again, in most applications, you do NOT need a 800WS strobe, it is over-killed (you may never need to turn on full power with today's digital cameras). This kit gives you total 540WS is enough for most cases. For large family portraits or wedding portraits or group photos or auto/furnish show photo, etc (large size of subjects), you need all three strobes (that offer you total 540WS), which shall be placed over 15 or 20 ft away in order to cover many or large subjects. The packages with < 500WS may not work. So beware of those 350WS packages, otherwise you will be regret. 11.  Why do you need three strobes? Basic studio lighting is using only one strobe, which is usually so-called “key light”. The key lighting can place up right or left with 40 – 90 degree away from your camera. For a professional result, studio photographers often use two lights, one for key light and another one for “fill light”. The angle between “fill strobe” and “key strobe” is from 40 – 120 degree. Say if you place a key strobe in up right from the subject and you shall place the “fill strobe” on left up about 40 – 120 degree away. The ratio of intensity between fill and key lights is about 1/3. Indeed, lots of people actually use the reflector as a “fill light” to fill. The double side large reflector will be great for a “fill light”. Also, you may need a background or hair lighting, so the 3rd strobe maybe needed indeed. 12.  What is the expected lifetime of these strobes? Do you sell the flash bulb alone if I need to replace the bulb? What is your warranty on those strobes? These strobes are very high-quality products. The flash tube is made in Germany. I do not know exact lifetime expectancies, but I am told that they can produce over 20,000 flashes. I do have them in stock. If you need more, just let me know. The modeling light bulb is standard. I have them in stock. It is standard JCD 110 V 75 W Halogen lamp, you can get them easily since they are industry standard. I offer 12-month warranty for tubes and bubs and 6 month full warranty for these strobes. If anything wrong within 6 months, just return it for exchange new one. Today, the lifetime of shutters of the top Nikon and Canon cameras is about 25,000 times. So the flashing tube life time is very close to your camera life time, though. If your flash tube is burned out and need one, just let me know (I have them in stock) or contact US distributor at www.Yinyan.us
